Hm. Maybe Nic was right - this didn't sound so bad. She nodded, still unsure, but listening. She had to admit, she perked a little bit at the part where she'd get to hurl shadows. It prrrrobably wouldn't be for awhile, but hey, she could dream, right? Maybe he really could improve her that fast. Guy seemed to know what he was doing... he'd certainly been better than her in a fight.
She hesitated a bit when he asked his question. She wasn't really scared of heights, being up on New York rooftops all the time. (It was the best view, always!) and if she had been scared of fire, expulsion #3 wouldn't have happened. Closed spaces weren't really an issue, ten thousand New York elevators... man now she missed home. Goddamn. Welp, about the only thing that bothered her wassss...
"...do people count?" She asked, squinting at him. She was half joking, and half serious. She was nervous enough around him, she didn't need onlookers watching her fall on her ass quite yet. Now, once she had the hang of things and was a total badass, she would totally practice where she could show off. Until then, she'd rather stay somewhere it was just them.

Jacob managed to give a chuckle that was more "haha, we're having fun" than mocking. "Well, sort of, they do. It's good to know, but people aren't really helpful to meditation to begin with, so I wasn't planning on taking you to a mall.
"We're not going to start in particularly shadowy areas for right now... we don't want an... accident, and we won't actually be working on your manipulation until we've gotten the basics down pat."
He took a deep breath, and then exhaled. "Alright. The first thing we're going to start with is a few basic stances. Stand up, straight... not THAT straight, just firm but comfortable. Chin up. Imagine that your spine, your whole body is in perfect alignment. Try to be aware of your center of gravity. Inhale, slowly, and find a sense of balance... for right now, more physically than anything else."

She winced a little bit at mention of any "accidents", deflating a little more, but she understood. Better to be careful then, well. Have a repeat of last week. That was the last thing anyone needed, including her. Avoiding that kind of violent, uncontrollable... chaos, was just fine with her. She'd never met to really hurt anyone, after all. She rubbed her arm a little, nodding and listening to Jacob as he talked. Okay, standing up straight (not that straight!) and keep your chin up. She could do that.
She kind of hated listening to instruction from people - she was more of a "figure it out yourself as you go" kind of person. It was one of the (many) reasons she didn't do well in school. She tried not to let it show, though she was pretty sure it already had. She tried to focus on what he told her, ignoring everything else. It was nigh impossible to completely shut off her buzzing head, but at least she didn't have to right now. She focused on breathing, trying to find that balance like he told her. It... wasn't as hard as she'd thought it'd be, really... huh.

"Okay, relax, get comfortable... Looks good. Now lift up your foot, gently," he added, as Lilith began to rocket her knee up as if to begin marching in a band. "Heel up, toe down, just take a slight step outwards so your legs are a bit spread."
He paused to make sure Lilith was following, since she'd showed a lot of trouble with very basic things in the past, but it seemed like standing was something she could do with little difficulty.
"Alright, open the fingers, bringing your arms up in front of you... then, as you bring your arms down, sink down with your legs and lower body as well. Not too far! Just gently. As your arms come back up, the wrists go down, and the body straightens a bit more, kind of like a flowing of energy."
They repeated a few times, and she seemed to be getting the hang of it. "This is the High Horse stance," he explained. He always found tai chi names to be cheesy at best, but it'd probably be the sort of thing Lilith would enjoy, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon style.

Hey, this wasn't too hard! She was kind of proud of herself. She found herself actually managing to concentrate on this, considering at actually did take some concentration. She was moving, yes, but with a certain slowness and accuracy that she hadn't really practiced before. She was very much a "hurry, hurry, hurry!" type of person. Taking it slow wasn't really her style, and it was... different, to say the least.
It was a little repetitive, but she actually didn't notice that much. She just followed what he said (still weird to actually do - she didn't think that feeling would go away for awhile) thinking about the doing. That was so much easier than some silly shape or word or whatever the hell she was supposed to be thinking about in those other exercises. She snorted a little bit at the name, but she had to admit, it was actually kind of cool-sounding. Like some kind of ninja technique. Heh. Ninjas... she could totally be a ninja. She was just that awesome.
".....this isn't too bad," she admitted, though a little quietly and grumbly, kind of hoping he wouldn't hear it. As far as Wings need be concerned, he was still just a feathery pain in her ass. Because he was.
