RULES Standard site rules, guys. It's not that hard, trust me. <3
CHARACTERS
RYTHOS Name: Mika Eiré Rythos Age: 16 Gender: Female Race: Half Human, Half Golden Dragon Magic: Spirit Shamanism Other: Gifted with Hereditary 'Animal-Speak', accompanied by a black cat named Xanthur
Personality: Deep down, Mika's sweet and caring, motherly even. This is easily maifested towards animals, especially younglings. However, most of the time, she's... anything but. She's snappish, she back-talks, and she's quick to take offense. She would rather be alone when it comes to other people, save for a precious few friends. Consider yourself lucky should you manage to brefriend her. She finds her beast friends much more desirable company. She doesn't trust easily, but once she does, it is strong. Betrayal from one she truly trusts shakes her to the core, and she still has yet to get over certain experiances of that. Family holds an important place in life for her, tending to adopt those she's close to into it. 'Just because you're not blood, doesn't mean you're not family.'
When it comes to other species, she doesn't care much about the differences, although she is fond of mammalian-type species. Dragons seem to intruige her more than anything else - to be expected. She knew no others than her father and brother.
Short Biography: Mika lost her father - the dragon in the family - to mysterious circumstances at a young age. She and her mother lived mostly alone, at the outskirts of Saillune. She managed to get into a few years of magic schooling, but she's not exactly highly proficient. In fact, she has some problems with improper magic workings - she's been ignoring it, much to Xanthur's dismay. Oh, Xanthur was once her father's, passed down to her to be her animal guardian. Everyone for about 5 generations on her father's side has had the gift, bestowed by Ceiphied himself. However, that's not to say it comes without a hitch... there's a supposed curse in the family. So far? It's proven pretty true. ..ANYHOW. As soon as she could, Mika took off into the field to try and discover what became of her father. That's practically the only thing she strives for now.

Same old road again... same old crowds. Same old town feel.
A figure leaned against the wall near the edge of the main town street, farther away from the bustle of noontime. Despite the fact that the season was slowly beginning to heat up, she kept her cloak around her, her hood against her face. Should one get close enough, golden eyes glinted out - beside them, a smaller pair of emerald orbs joined them. Fur rubbed against her cheek as she leaned there, observing. A gentle meow echoed softly into her ear.
'Do you really think that you're going to find anything here?' Only she heard the words behind the rumbling sounds.
"...you never know, Xanthur." The eyes blinked, still gold and slitted, beneath the hood. "You never know."

A lone figure walked cautiously through the deserted side streets. She kept her hood up and cloak close around her. Her head was tilted slightly down so the hood covered her eyes. Even if you could see under the hood, jet black bags also covered piercing violet and slitted eyes like a one way window. She could see out from under the bangs, but nobody else could see in. There was no way she would ever let her latest disaster repeat itself...
She had been walking down the main street of a smaller village not far from this town. Suddenly, a gust of wind kicked up and blew her hood clean off her head and her cloak back, revealing her ocelot tail behind her and ears amongst her jet black hair. The wind had also blown her bangs out of her face, revealing the violet cat-like eyes. She had accidentally made eye contact with one of the villagers seconds after the gust. The villager screamed and all eyes turned to look at her as the village grew silent. She could only stand there, frozen from the sudden increase of unwanted attention. Then, one shopkeeper even had the guts to run out of his shop, wielding a broom and yelling "MONSTER!" repeatedly. She had fled down the main street and out of the village. The shopkeeper had pursued her to the edge of the village and then had brandished the broom menacingly while he shouted a last threat, "Don't you ever come back here again you Monster!"
The young half-breed shivered at the thought of the recent memory. Then she spotted someone up ahead and her pace slowed down a bit. I wonder if they would chase me off... she thought as she stopped about 10 feet from them. She didn't know what to do next. She honestly felt kind of lost, just traveling around, and now she was scared because she had heard some talk in this town about her recent village-spooking.
OOC: Long post. Mine probably won't be this long normally unless I'm truly bored. XD

Xan's rough tongue flicked out, grazing against Mika's cheek. 'No doubt you're right,' he meowed, whiskers twitching. 'Still... the people in this town. You've heard their talk. We shouldn't stick around too long.' She was silent, and he guessed what she was thinking. 'Mika... Mika we just can't. You can't stick in a small place like this for long, people start to talk! And what happened just near here, the story I heard, I TOLD you! People are suspicious here. We can't stick around.' He kneaded her shoulder gently, and she glanced over. Anxious cat eyes stared back at her with apprehension.
"...okay, you win." He purred into her ear. She sighed, a little grin tugging on the edge of her lips. How he always managed to get to her... "That's right, brag, you lump of fur. Can't believe you." she said softly, reaching up into her hood to pet his head. He rubbed against her hand, purring louder. Whatever. He did have a point.. a very legit point. It was getting time to leave soon anyways. If she didn't find anything within today? She wasn't going to, simple as that. Suddenly, Xanthur tensed beside her - the graymalkin held his breath, ears flicking. "...Xan?" Her voice was a whisper only his ears could hear now. "What?" He was making her nervous now, and she hated that... hated that badly.
'...I'm not sure. It's... odd.' He suddenly wriggled his way out of the hood on her shoulder, leaping down onto the dirt ground with a poff of dust. Mika started, and moved to call out to him. 'Wait.' This he said not with sound, but the flick of his tail was language enough to her senses. He sat for a moment, licking a paw carefully. Then he stood, and turned his eyes at someone else who had come nearby for the time. Mika had failed to notice, too focused on her only companion. Xanthur however... it was very clear he noticed even more than she did now. He stared, green eyes looking puzzled, and meowed loudly. 'Hey you there!' Mika wanted to hit him over the head with a book labeled People-Do-Not-Talk-To-Cats. He was so used to HER, she swore... he did this a lot. People stared at him... a lot. That bothered her too. In fact, a LOT of things bothered her...

Kiroi had been staring off into space for a few minutes. She thought about her recent memory over and over again, almost as if entranced by it. She knew people would be suspicious around her for awhile. They'd wonder about anyone or anything out of the ordinary. They might even reject those different people. It would all be because of her too. Under her hood, her ears twitched with guilt. The fabric twitched slightly too, but it was unnoticeable unless you were looking for it.
Suddenly, she heard someone call out to her. She looked around, a bit startled, and then looked down and saw a very small black cat staring up at her. He had emerald eyes that looked at her in confusion. He said, 'Hey you there!' and Kiroi lifted her head to look back at him with uncovered violet eyes. They were swirling with different emotions: confusion, surprise, some fear, and even a bit of hope. She blinked slowly and watched the cat for a few more moments. "Who me? Can I help you?" Kiroi half whispered as if she was afraid one of the villagers somewhere close by might recognize her voice from any distance. Then again, for all I know, that girl over there could be a villager too. she mused.
A breeze blew past them and threatened to blow her cloak back and her hood off. She quickly turned her head to the side and grabbed her cloak to pull it closer to her. The breeze subsided a few moments later. She turned her head back towards the cats and relinquished the grip on her cloak. Her knuckles were white like she had been holding her cloak in a death-grip and then they slowly began to regain their normal color. She sighed an nodded an apology to the black feline.

Name: Terryn Age: Looks to be around fifteen or sixteen, claims to be older. Gender: Male Race: Human Magic: Used to study a little Black Magic, but he's fallen out of practice.
Personality: Outwardly, Terryn is brash and outspoken, appearing to have few secrets and even fewer brain cells... some might be convinced that his ability to avoid arrest has been nothing but dumb luck and good timing so far. They would be wrong. He is quite clever and quick with his words, sometimes a little too quick. His mind works faster than his mouth, and his train of thought can admittedly be quite difficult for others to follow, leading to some rather frustrating situations for both parties and ending with Terryn in a bad mood. He hates to be misunderstood. Things can come out the wrong way. It's easy to take something he says as an insult when his intent was entirely innocent, though you could hardly call him the innocent type. After all, he's a thief...
A loner for the most part, he prefers not to talk about his family. Friends are a burden, and traveling companions a free meal at best. He's convinced that he can do better on his own. It's easier to use someone when you don't like them. Pessimistic little bugger, isn't he?
Still, spend a lot of time with Terryn in earnest and he'll get attached. He may not realize it, but it's bound to happen... he honestly likes being around people, and though he'll deny it even to himself, it's hard to ignore. Traveling alone hasn't been good for him.
Short Biography: UH LATER OKAY

A cloaked figure moved swiftly and purposefully through the shadows of the dark alleyway, intent on some unseen target. The wind picked up slightly, but the figure merely pulled the cloak closer, seeming nearly as intent on staying hidden as it was on whatever goal it might be pursuing.
“Hey you!” The cloaked figure froze and slowly turned around, facing the one who had so abruptly interrupted his intense pursuit. A large, hulking innkeeper waddled towards him wielding the bag of garbage he had taken out into the alleyway to dump. “What are you doing back here?!”
“...Forgive me, sir. I was not aware that it was a crime to walk through a public alleyway in this town.” The cloaked figure spoke for the first time, his voice not angry; merely curious. The innkeeper did not seem to take it that way however.
“Don’t get smart with me, son. We have had a lot of weird things happening in this town lately. And someone as suspicious as you... Why it would only be my civil duty to bring someone as suspicious as you in to the authorities.” The innkeeper gloated at idea, and added as a side note. “Besides... There might be a bounty in it for me. You look like a thief.”
“Oh do I?” Kou questioned, his voice devoid of any emotion. He stared at the innkeeper for a moment and slowly lowered his hood. He shook the bangs out of his ruby colored eyes, locking them with the innkeeper’s. The innkeeper let out a sudden gasp and took a fearful step backwards. “I am truly sorry for the inconvenience, but I don’t have time to play right now.”

Kiroi was standing in the alley, waiting for a reply. Then he ears twitched and slightly swivled to pick up a noise. She turned he head around to look over her shoulder. She thought she saw shadows on the wall of the alley farther back behind her. She nodded apolegetically to the cat and said, "Can you excuse me for a minute?" Then she turned and cautiously walked back down the way she had come. As she walked, the sounds got louder and formed a conversation.
When she came to the corner she looked around it and saw a cloaked figure pull his hood off and tell heavy innkeeper something. She looked at the cloaked figure in curiosity. Who is he? Kiroi wondered to herself. She didn't really think she should get involved. She moved to turn around and tripped on a rock embedded in the ground, twisting on her right leg and falling to the ground on her side with a yelp. She slowly began to get up and winced.
The wind took this exact momenet to kick up again and Kiroi was comepletely unprepared. Her hood flew back, exposing black ears with a white spot in the middle of each. Her cloak also billowed out behind her and her ocelot-like tail curled around her instictively. She was staring wide-eyed at the two people infront of her and held her breath. Not again... she thought, frozen in fear.

The innkeeper and the previously hooded figure both turned their heads at the sound of the yelp behind them. At the sight of her ears and tail, the innkeeper gave another loud gasp. “Monsters!” He cried, flapping his arms in dismay and crying out at the top of his lungs. “Someone-anyone! Help! Monsters! Mon-“
His words were abruptly cut short as the red-eyed boy swiftly cuffed him in the back of the neck. His eyes rolled back in his head and he collapsed to the ground in a heap. The boy stood over him for a few moments and then began to make his way over to the fallen girl. He crouched down and extended his hand, smiling apologetically. “Sorry, I already made him nervous. You should probably get out of here, someone was bound to have heard him.”

Kiroi's eyes widened even more when the innkeeper gasped and started yelling out that there were Monsters in the area. Then the other stranger cuffed him in the back of the neck and his warnings were cut short. The innkeeper fell to the ground and then the boy came over to her and offered his hand out while saying she should probably get out of the area. She agreed, someone was bound to have heard him.
Kiroi looked up at him and noticed his red eyes. She blinked in confusion and a few tears escaped her eyes without her permission. She was still in shock, but she managed to slowly reach out her hand towards his. Somehow she thought she could trust this stranger. Her hand shook and she trieid to say something, but couldn't. Her throat had gone dry. Instead, she winced as she tried to shift onto her right ankle.

Xan's eyes glittered at the girl spoke back. He was right... more stood here than one first realized. However, she whisked her self off down another alley before he could speak again. He yowled after her, but he doubted she caught it. A black ear flicked in annoyance. That was hardly what he'd wanted. He stood, and padded after her, leaving Mika to stare after him with amazed eyes of gold.
"Wait, Xan! XAN! Xanthur Darkrisen!" The cat ignored her, vanishing down an alleyway. Mika muttered a handful of curses to herself, and went after him. Some cat, being all mysterious and... and cattish! She hated when he did this, although it was less often now then when she was younger. A cry went up in the alley, and she sprinted the rest of the way. She skidded around the corner, Xan hissing at her when she nearly tread on his tail.
'Look out! You could have run right into danger, Rythos!' He stared up at her with emerald orbs.
"Well," she snapped back defensively. "If YOU hadn't stopped right here, I woul-"
'Forget that!' He flicked his tail towards the others. 'Give them a hand and let's get out of here. Someone probably heard that guy shout for help.' Mika finally took in the scene around her. Well... there wasn't something you saw everyday. Not that she should be surprised, with some of the crazy-ass things she'd seen. Oh crap, she was distracted again! She paused for one more moment, debating if she should just take off . . . no. That's not what he would have wanted. Besides, they ALL needed to get out of there.
"Need another hand?" She moved around the small cat, who leapt and clambered up to her shoulder. Her hood was down for now, her own eyes glinted out. "You look like you could use it, and from the sound of things, we should be going.."
Above her, the cry of some bird echoed. A small shape circled up above, a sharp m-shaped shadow upon the pale clue sky of day..

Above the confrontation in the alley, a wiry boy with dirty blonde hair pulled back into a braid stood at the edge of the inn. He shifted his weight from one foot to the other, leaning precariously over the railing to get a better view of the people below him, and grinned. The reassuring weight of recently acquired money bumped against his side as he swung one leg over the railing, and then the other, gripping the metal bars and lowering himself to a crouch on the very edge of the rooftop. It was an incredibly dangerous position, but good for watching. Not that there was usually much to watch in the alleyway behind a worn down inn...
Well, today there was. The sun was hot on his back, the wind cold in his face, and it looked like it would be a good day. He was already in a better mood from his successful heist earlier - why was it that rich ladies never tried to protect their purses? Or maybe he was just that good. The grin twisted into a smirk, and he straightened up, moving to a fire escape a few feet away from his spot. He began his descent almost too quickly, halfway down the side of the building and perched on the bottom rung in almost no time. The group was a little ways further down the alley, and he let himself drop, landing with his knees bent and his gloved fingers brushing the ground.
He cocked his head and straightened up, taking a moment to brush the dirt off his pants and tuck his scraggly bangs back behind one ear. One curious green eye flicked from the man on the ground to the strange trio. The other eye was closed, covered by a small scar that went from right above his eyebrow to just past his cheekbone. He began sauntering towards them, casually shoving his hands in the pockets of his pants and smiling like an idiot.
"'Scuse me," he called out. "D'you have the time?"

The boy looked up at the approaching girl, she looked familiar... Maybe it was just his imagination. After pulling the girl to her feet and making sure she was alright he turned to leave- not soon enough however. He didn’t have time to stick around while distraction after distraction turned. After what had happened in the forest... He wanted to make sure she was alright. They had already set a meeting point just in case this mission went terribly wrong and they got separated; which they had.
“I really had better be going. Be more careful from now on.” He shook his head sternly at the girl who had fallen, but it was only for a moment. Quickly his hard expression melted away and he gave her a reassuring wink. He continued walking forward until he was right next to the blonde boy who had suddenly appeared in the alleyway. He could feel a strange prickling on the back of his neck, and knew that for some reason or the other his instincts were telling him to stay away from this newcomer.

Kiroi watched as the boy pulled her up and then told her to be more careful, sternly shaking his head and then winking reassuringly. Then he turned and started walking away. Finally her voice came back and she said something to him, "Thanks!" It wasn't much, but she really felt she needed to say it.
Kiroi turned and saw the girl and her cat coming towards them. The girl asked if she needed a hand and said they should get out of here. She nodded in agreement. "We probably should get moving, er...I should I guess...Thanks, but you probably don't need the trouble I'll bring..." she mumbled. Then she turned to start walking in the direction the red-eyed boy had gone, pulling her hood back over her head. It was a good way to get out of town.
As she walked she passed a blonde-haired boy. She became wary all of a sudden and eyed him curiously from under her bangs and hood. She kept walking and somehow caught up with the other boy. Then she cast a look over her shoulder at the girl and her cat, almost asking if they were coming and gave a small smile. She wanted companions, but she was also afraid they'd get in trouble because of her.
