Having a roommate was a lot easier than Zeke had anticipated.
The whole "crossdressing" thing didn't even register in his mind anymore - Kari was just Kari, and there wasn't much more one could say about that. He glanced towards the other boy's side of the room, swathed in pink and looking ridiculously out of place inside Ansembourg's walls. Not that he didn't love the place, but it was... stony. Yes, stony was a good word for it.
Zeke lay on his stomach, head propped up on his pillow, watching the words on the pages in front of him blur and blend into one another. Finally he gave up, setting the book down with a sigh, and buried his face into his pillow. Ugh, too hard to breathe. He rolled over onto his back and held the book up at arm's length
"Tune in next time on the pedo-tastic adventures of Professor Humbert Humbert. Girls under the age of thirteen get in free!" God, it was impossible to concentrate today - Zeke was not in the mood for flowery language and... well, that was it, really. He set the book down beside him on the bed and proceeded to stare at the ceiling.

It was good to have friends. Kari was doing his very best to become friends with absolutely everyone possible, even though so far his list of friends was a bit of a sausage fest. Where were they HIDING the girls in this school?
Anyway, he'd gone down to Kadin's room to hang out. He had his own room in the basement, so that was bound to be cool, right? A whole room to himself? Yeah, Kari had severely over estimated Kadin's level of giving a damn. One look into the dark room had been enough to enspire Kari to drag Kadin back to HIS room, to show him how one could really accessorize and make the best out of one's space.
"It might be a bit pink for your tastes, granted," Kari was saying. "But I think you'll get what I mean. Plus, I can make you some dinner. The cafeteria food is OKAY, but you know, nothing special." He knocked on his door twice. "Hey, Zeke, if you're in there, I'm coming in with a friend, okay?" he warned before opening the door and entering.

Kadin didn't get what Kari's problem was. First of all, after they had first met and all that, he had never asked if she wanted to hang out. Hell, he'd never asked if she wanted to be his friend. But this girl had, for some reason, decided that not only were they friends, but she was also now going to become part of his daily schedule whether he liked it or not.
So she was going to come hang out in his room. Whatever. He didn't care, she could come and talk and when she got bored she'd leave. But that wasn't how things had worked out. Kari had come to his room, she had looked at his room, she had found his room displeasing right away and now, all of a sudden, they were going to hang out in HER room. Kadin never even had a chance to tell her that he didn't want to go all the way up to her room, he was perfectly happy sitting here in the dungeon, thanks. She had just... somehow... he didn't know. Gotten him to come. She never gave him a breath to argue, that was it. He couldn't do anything but, just. Ugh.
"Mmhm." He wasn't really listening to every word that came out of her mouth. He just sort of nodded along and make the occasional noise to make it sound like he was listening. She didn't seem to mind, not that he cared if she minded or not. At the mention of pink, however, he mentally cringed. God, he didn't want to go to some girl's room. What if her roommate was there? What if he knew her? But they didn't walk towards the side of the school where the girls dorms were. Instead, they stopped by one of the boy's dorms and Kari knocked, acting like it was her room.
What the hell?
Kadin followed Kari inside anyway, looking around, noting the boy on the bed who lay there like he lived there, and was confused. This was Kari's room? But... if. If she had a room with a boy... she'd have to be a boy. He didn't... He'd never heard of any exceptions to the rule. Kadin sat down on whatever spare chair or bit of bed was closest and tried to work this out in his mind. If she roomed with a boy, she'd have to be a boy. He looked over at Kari. Or, rather, stared. Perhaps his only salvation would be in that, after so long of wearing a 'I don't give a damn' face, his expressions were a bit muted. So unless Kari really looked or noticed that he was acting... different...
What the hell?
Poor Kadin.

He sat up as Kari came in with a new friend in tow. One look at the guy and he was already a little intimidated; not that that was saying much, for Zeke. People, people, always with the people this year - why was that? Just one roommate and suddenly, bam, they were everywhere. It was like they travelled in packs. Herds? Either way, it was a bit of a culture shock.
Zeke recognized the older boy; he'd been at Ansembourg the year before, too. New-ish. There were a lot of those. Then again, everyone was new compared to Zeke, so that statement didn't mean much of anything by this point.
"Ah... hey," he said, shrinking back just a little against the wall by his bed. It was an involuntary response of his, too subtle for most people to notice. The book he'd been reading lay forgotten beside him, face-down - Zeke didn't believe in bookmarks. His entire side of the room was rather messy compared to Kari's, with papers and schoolwork haphazardly tossed wherever there was space for them.

Kari glanced from one boy to the next. He was no psychic, but he could sense the vague tension in the air. Must... break... tension! "Kadin, this is my roommate, Zeke. Zeke, this is my friend, Kadin. He lives in the basement, so I thought it would be a bit more cheery to take him up here. He can set things on fire, but I promise he won't," he said, all with his patented 'love me, I'm adorable' smile.
"SO. How about I make you guys some food, since we're all here? I'll have to change out of these clothes," Kari said, gesturing at the flowy pink babydoll and white skirt. They were most certainly not cooking clothes. "But maybe if it tastes good enough, Kadin will stop giving me that look," he added, sticking his tongue out at the grumpy boy, who, he assumed, was in shock from all the pink.
