If there was one thing Rune had learned since he'd started this job, it was this - he would never look at a small child the same way again.
It wasn't that there was anything wrong with them now, goodness no! He still loved kids. It was just that... damn, they could sure be five times more the trouble when they could turn into a raptor and tear around the room at twenty miles per hour. He'd always be more cautious when dealing with children from now on. They knew no bounds, that was for sure. Now, at least, he had a little time of peace. It was late in the evening now, and he sat cross-legged in one of the nice, comfy chairs beside a little table with a yellow-bulbed lamp in the staff lounge. Beside him was a pile of large, thick paper - not your typical notebook paper one usually saw teacher's grading. No, thank god he didn't have to do that. Instead of reading reports, essays, and all other manner of things and going through them with a fine-tooth comb, he got to look over a finger painting, scribble down a 'Good job' or 'More effort next time!' and perhaps give them a sticker. For the slightly older kids, he graded their basic maps, their writing practice, the bare minimums of mathematics.
While class-time may have been more hellish for him than the other teachers, at least the outside work was much less so. The younger years were great like that.

Ah, the afternoon! Classes were over, the sun was descending the last stretch down the sky, and he'd even finished grading the last of the People assignments he'd given out. Toharn was a free man, to wander the castle as he pleased. It was funny how, on his break of breaks, with all the grounds to wander, his first stop was in the teacher's lounge.
Then again, why shouldn't this be his first stop? After all, of all the people he'd actually met and shaken hands with, he could count very few of the actual teachers in his acquaintance. So, before going anywhere else where he may be swamped by students with questions about one thing or another (he honestly didn't understand how ever corner he turned a new student had a question for him!) he popped his head into the gathering place for the teachers of the school to see if there was any familiar face that he had yet to introduce himself to.
Ah-hah! And there there was!
"Excuse me~" He had crossed the room with a light step that seemed to have taken no time at all. Now he was leaning down towards the young man hunched over children's pictures, one hand reaching out to touch his back in a friendly way as he spoke his first words. Toharn had become very aware, upon leaving home, that not all cultures were as... touchy as his family was. In fact, many people had seemed uncomfortable by his seeming lack of any sense of personal space. But, well, old habits died hard. He continued his address in a rather obvious Spanish accent. "Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself. I don't believe we've met, I teach history. I am Toharn, and you are?"

Rune hadn't really been expecting anyone else - but he hadn't not been expecting it either. He was, after all, in the staff lounge, which lead one to believe that staff would indeed be passing through. He looked up at the touch and the voice, a little surprised, but not at all startled. The face was unfamiliar to him, for the most part. He'd seen the other man around the school once or twice, and at the quick staff meeting before classes had allowed him a glimpse at the others' faces at least once. It had been somewhat rushed and left little time to talk, however, so he went un-introduced to much of the faculty.
"Ah, yes!" Runeric quickly set the papers aside and turned in his chair. "My name is Runeric Wayran - you can just call me Rune. I like it better that way." He had the most bizarre name, it was rather true. It often left those who met him wondering if it was a real name or not... it wasn't uncommon to change your identity after moving underground, after all. "I'm one of the two elementary teachers - I handle the youngest of the group, the little-little kids." He offered his hand for a shake, if Toharn so wished. "You said you teach history? I've got quite the mind for that myself, to be honest. Much of language is rooted in history, after all."
