"Nonono. That's just my name." "Dragon is a terrible name, sir." "I'm aware of that. I'm sure my mother is very apologetic. Now, if you don't mind-" "That still doesn't answer what you're doing in my shop."
What appeared to be a young boy sighed and stood up from where "he" had been squatting, apparently working on... something. "The answer is irrelevant. What I want to know is why you're still here if you're not going to be handing me that damn wrench." As the "boy" spoke, "he" took off his long, black cloak (it was hot in that blacksmithing shop!), and was revealed to be either a girl or the world's STRANGEST boy.
There wasn't much of a figure there, to be fair, but there was enough to make any right minded man react exactly how the blacksmith did.
"I...what...you...hair!" "Shut up! Long hair is useless! And don't you even GIVE me that 'women in the eyes of God' speech, buddy!" The man stopped mid-inhale. "I've heard it a million times! Gimme the wrench!" "This is blasphemy!" "I'll blaspheme your ass! Get out of here!"
Considering that Dragon was wielding a large hammer, and he, nothing, the blacksmith decided it wise to retreat. He might have headed for the police office, but he would have been informed somewhere along the way that she had bought the smithy. How? Oh, inheritance money or somesuch.
Dragon figured she had a good amount of time before the owner realized where exactly the "inheritance" money had come from, and she could get plenty of work in beforehand.

What were they even DOING in this town?! Mika Rythos wasn't entirely sure, and she scowled at the ground in annoyance. Nearby, she could see her brother flouting his lean muscle, golden hair, and bright blue eyes. She hissed to herself, annoyed further by his stunts. Stupid... all she needed was a new short sword. Not that she used hers much, but the little she did use it had already rendered it useless. "Cheap piece of junk," she muttered, thinking about it. Her sharp ears picked up laughter, and she glanced over to see him hitting it off fairly well with one of the townsfolk... hmph. Not on her watch, they were here with a PURPOSE, and by Ceiphied's name she'd GET IT DONE.
"Hey, player-boy!" she snapped, golden eyes glaring at him like usual. He turned to look at her, suddenly... bored. She scowled again. "Get your ass over here. We didn't come to mess around, moron." He rolled his eyes, made some low comment to girl, and laughter resumed. Mika wanted to hit her head against the nearby wall... hard.
'Oh, don't bother,' came the gentle, meowing sigh from her shoulder. Her guardian rubbed his little furry cheek against hers. 'Let's just go - he'll have to find us again later anyway, so why not go on ahead.' He lifted his head, perking his ears and sniffing the wind, whiskers extended. 'I think I smell the ash of a smithy over there.' He flicked his tail further down the town path. 'Want to check it out?'
"...sure," she said with a sigh. "I'm not going to get anywhere fast if I rely on this bozo." She jerked her head towards Skyflash, looking more annoyed than ever. Her brother and her.. never really did get along. Perhaps it was a mutual resentment, coming from the fact that they harbored different mothers. She was never really sure... all that she knew was that she thought him an absolute ass. She moved from her leaned position on the wall as Xanthur jumped from her shoulder and padded ahead. She followed, letting his nose lead the way. Her sense of smell was good, but exact pin-pointing from a distance? She didn't have that much skill.
"Hey, wait up!" Augh, he'd found them.. Mika stopped to look over her shoulder, and Xan took the time to sneak in some grooming. Flash made his way over to them, taking his sweet time. Mika REALLY wanted to strangle him... "What's the deal? I thought we were going together, oh dear sister." That patronizing tone of his again. Gods, she just wanted to... UGH.
"Oh, of COURSE, dear SWEET brother," she said back, laying her familiar coated sarcasm. "Whatever would I do without you?" He chuckled back at her, running a hand through his hair.
"Oh, I don't know. It's just too pitiful to imagine, isn't it?" He was REALLY treading the line here, her hands were poised and ready to go for his throat. Stupid, STUPID boy... she didn't care if he was a full-bred dragon, she could still take 'im! ...gah, but she'd promised Mother...
"..right. Whatever you say." She forced herself to remain flat - the closest to calm she could get. "Just... come on. The sooner I get this fixed or replaced, the sooner we can leave." Her half-brother gave a dramatic sigh, rolling those blue eyes of his, but Mika ignored it. "COME. Let's go." She turned and kept walking, Xan getting up again to lead, and after a moment she could sense his familiar presence following again.
Eventually, they reached the place that the little cat had caught on the wind, the front door left partially open. The tiny cat didn't even stop - he just slid right on in. "Xan!" she hissed, unsure. There was no response from him, not helping her. Flash sidled past her as she hesitated, pushing the door open and giving the frame a little knock as he proceeded in.
"Hey, anyone home?" he asked in that annoying, silky little voice of his. He just thought he was ALL that, didn't he? Mika just wanted to smack his thick skull against the floor. ...again, and again, and again. Ooh, if I hadn't promised Mother... Imagination would have to suffice for now.

And for a little while, it was just Dragon and the ferret. The ferret was a little sable, an absolutely adorable guy without a doubt. Dragon had never been much of an animal person, but the ferret was special. He was very intelligent, an excellent thief, and just generally more convenient then most people.
Plus he didn't pester her about her hair or choice of clothing.
However, he was also lacking in some ways... He didn't have opposable thumbs, which meant he couldn't hand her that damn wrench. Dragon sighed and looked down at the oblong metal shape below her. What was it going to be? It was any man's guess. But Dragon could promise one thing... it WOULD go boom. Oh yes.
It was then that Dragon heard someone walk in the front door. They might have tapped on something, but it could hardly be called a knock. It was a guy, by the sound of his voice. But being a sentient creature, that meant he probably had opposable thumbs!
"Yeah!" Dragon called out, her voice slightly muffled, as she was talking into the ground and a large metallic device. "Gimme that damn wrench, will you? It's to your left, hanging up on the wall." Dragon only had so many wrenches, and each one was extremely valuable, seeing as how she didn't get the chance to rob a man if his smithy very often on her travels.

Mika followed the other two in then, tentative. She wasn't so sure about this.. but she did need what she'd come for. Decisions, decisions - but it looked as though Flash wasn't really giving her much choice. He stood there in front of her for a moment or two, and from the expression on his face he was no doubt going through various ways he could choose to interprate it. She growled lowly, shaking her head. What a stupid, perverted, moronic lit- okay, calm down, Mika. Caaalm down. She had to remind herself not to overreact to Skyflash. That seemed to be what he wanted from her.
"Move over, moron," she hissed again, giving him a shove. Xan sprung away from them, yowling as the dragon trod on his tail. "I'll get the stupid wrench. Like I said, the sooner it's over, the sooner we leave." It took her a minute to find what she was looking for - not unusual for, well, HER. Snagging the metal tool, she found her way over to the one who had requested it. From the back angle, and the muffled voice, it was hard to tell if she was facing a male or a female.. she guessed the first. Female blacksmiths weren't entirely common, or at least that's what she'd heard from... from him. Shaking herself out of the sudden daze, she reached out with the wrench. "This what you're looking for?"
