"New start," Kari echoed quietly as he followed Kadin. "I like that." Yeah, it certainly wouldn't hurt him to be hopeful. Maybe this would be the school like he'd always dreamed of, where he had a little circle of friends to walk with him in the hallways. And where the cafeteria food was good. He'd been told that detail was important.
Kari's eyes got a little wide. "The WHOLE castle? Jesus, I hope I manage to stay on his good side." Oh, gym. Kari was so not looking forward to this class. He actually liked physical activity, but he was kind of stunted and scrawny. Plus, he was under the TV induced impression that gym would be full of excessive physical contact and large, angry, hormonal men-boys who would beat him up for being a sissy.
Kari had already found out that the showers were group showers too, and had a question about that. "Say, the showers in the, uh... dorm... areaplace. Do you think they would be particularly busy early in the morning? What time do most people start waking up here?" Kari had always been early to bed, early to rise. Even on nights when he went out partying, he had a tendency to wake up early, which left him grumpy from lack of sleep for the rest of the day.
Kari, of course, followed him through the boy's side, since it would kind of weird for him to tresspass on some unfortunate girl.

Despite his time-honored stance on not getting too involved with other people, Kadin couldn't help but glance over at Kari as she echoed his words, not smiling, just... He was happy for the kid. She'd probably get a whole bunch of friends even if she didn't seem to think so. Sure, she was a bit weird, but they all were. What was important was that she was friendly and seemed like a girl who wouldn't be afraid to go out there and make friends. She'd be ok this time. He was confident in there, even though he knew that there was a chance it would all go horribly wrong and she'd hate it here. It wouldn't be his problem either way (or so he thought).
He couldn't help but smirk at her reaction. "Yeah, that's a good plan." He was lucky. He was a fire guy who still liked to swim and he'd take the orders as long as it meant he'd get out more quickly. Coach Sky didn't pick on him, but there were those typical dipshits out there who always needed to test their teachers. Kadin had figured that if he did what they told him and they didn't get on his case, there was no reason to act up. Some people didn't learn. "Just show that you're sweating and you should be fine. It's only the people who don't put in effort that he picks on."
Now, Kari's latest question was a bit difficult to answer. For one, Kadin wasn't a girl (as he assumed Kari to be), so he had no clue if the girl's showers were full at different times then the boys. For another, Kadin didn't even pay much attention to how crowded the boy's showers were, all he cared about was getting a spot then getting out again. So Kadin just shrugged. "I don't really keep tabs on the shower schedule. I usually go later at night, it's less crowded then. In the morning before class is the most crowded. Most of us are teenagers, people like to sleep as long as they can. If you wanna avoid morning traffic, but take a shower in the morning, wake up about... Eh. And hour or two before first class." Most girls weren't crazy enough to wake up even earlier then that for a shower, right? He figured that everyone liked to sleep. That should be plenty of time for girls or guys.
So as they went on, Kadin continued the tour to the pool, stepping into the large, tiled room that didn't smell of chlorine. For anyone who was used to public pools, this would be more then a little strange. "The pool uses some kinda fancy filter to keep out scum and bacteria since they wanted to make it safe for fish and other morphs. It's nice and all, but some people don't shower after swimming since they don't smell." Which was kinda gross when you considered that they had been literally swimming in a giant fish bowl. Needless to say, Kadin would recommend showing after swimming.
"...I guess I could show you the castle next."
