Wayrans The Wayrans are a haughty and proud race that live in a floating city called Sanctuary. They are arguably the most magically oriented of the four races, and they make sure that everyone knows it. Wayrans live at least thrice the age of humans, although there is a large range of lifespans within the race itself. Wayrans are born with an affinity for a winged creature, and by the time they reach maturity they are expected to have fully mastered the ability to shape shift into said form. It isn't until they master this ability that they can venture outside of Sanctuary, for flying is the only way to reach the city or to leave it. Their humanoid form often bears many similarities to their avian form, and features such as eye color and feather color carry over more often than not. Wayrans take a neutral stance in world politics, thinking themselves above the petty conflict of what they consider to be the lesser races. Wayran magic, although lacking the firepower of the Dragon spells, makes up for it in variety. They specialize in abilities that take the fight out of their foe and makes them defenseless. Things such as sleep, confusion and enfeeblement are standard for Wayran spellcraft. Wayrans that are especially magically gifted may even possess the ability to influence the actions of weaker willed targets. Wayrans can also harness the power of the wind and use it as a defensive mechanism to push away advancing enemies. Nymphs Nymphs: An asexual race that is born of the sacred water of the eastern mountains. They are vaguely humanoid in shape, but possess webbed hands and feet and gills. Their skin varies in shade from silver to blue and shimmers in the sunshine. They are playful and childlike creatures who know nothing of war or destruction. The Nymphs have no real government because of their small numbers. When a Nymph dies, their body turns to water, the same that they were created from. A new Nymph is only born when another dies. In this way, they believe that death is merely a transformation, and don't understand the concept of something being gone for good. The population has been slowly dwindling as young Nymphs go out into the world to try and find a way to save their home. The Nymphs have lived in isolation through much of the world's history. However, in recent years, toxins from the constant wars have polluted their sacred waters and poisoned their home. Nymphs are especially skilled in the art of healing, and they possess the profound ability to bring someone back from the brink of death. It is rumored that there is a sacred spring at the center of Nymph civilization that can cure any ailment of those who bathe in it.

Dragons The Dragons are a fierce, noble race, with powerful bodies and magic to match. Though in terms of raw skill they cannot hold a candle to Wayrans or even Dryads, their offensive magic arguably has the ability to inflict the most damage. They are extremely territorial, and their long lifespans allow them to protect their hoards and their lands for many years. Dragons come in a range of colors and variety of size, and though it is genetic to a degree, there are no different species of Dragon. All Dragons are born with the ability to shift into a humanoid form, though it takes several years and plenty of practice to fully master the technique. In their human form, they often have scales of their true form's color down their limbs, spikes at the joints, and a pair of horns at the ridge of the skull. The horns are larger and more curved for males and shorter and straighter for females. Their eyes have cat-like qualities, and are very intense in both color and pattern. Dragons take an aggressive stance in world politics, making grabs for any land they can to expand their hoarding and living area. They often come into conflict with humans over the issue, and it's not uncommon for a Dragon to use the threat of their outright physical power to win an argument. Dryads The Dryads are a peaceful, nature-loving race that find solace in nature, and life in everything. Their abilities in magic are tied mainly to growth and healing, allowing life to flourish where it previously could not. They inhabit the vast oasis lands in the Stridel desert. Their lives are bright and full, but only a hair longer than their Nymph brethren. Dryads have darker skin, and though it may range from a light tan to a dark chocolate, a medium brown is the most common among the race. Alongside their bright hair and dark eyes, many Dryads grow flowers in their hair. They are not born with these flowers, but rather they are placed in the hair at birth, and their natural ability to make things grow and survive allows them to thrive. Often, the flower that bloomed closest to the child's birth is the one that is picked for their adornment. All Dryad are born with an animal companion, known as a "Min". All Min begin life with their companion, appearing mysteriously on the night of their birth. They are simple creatures at first, being nothing more than a gray fox or a black cat. However, as the young Dryad grows and develops, so does their Min beside them. For example, a protective Dryad may find their companion growing horns or antlers, while one with great love for the night may have an animal with darker or silvery-spotted pelt colors. Dryads prefer to stay out of most politics if possible - not because they feel themselves any higher, but rather out of a desire to keep peace and stabilize tranquility. They are naturally good at hearing and sorting out two sides of a story, however, and will often be asked to step in and be the peacekeepers in a debate.
