Setting
It's 500 years in the future, Earth-that-was has been made uninhabitable by the over use of its fossil fuels; by polution and by the exponential growth of the human race. And so the decision is taken to find a new home for the human race, a fresh new solar system with planets and moons ripe for terra-forming. The inner Core planets become the Alliance, a wealthy society built on military might and a strict administration. The outer planets become a new frontier for brigands, pirates and smugglers, life is based around agriculture and mining. Beyond the system is Reaver space, some believe Reavers are a race of humans who have been driven to the depths of despair by the knowledge there is nothing beyond space. The truth is no doubt just as startling.
Within this new solar system a war was fought between the Alliance and the border planets, the Alliance wished to bring all the planets underneath their boot heel. The outer planets disagreed and a war was raged between Alliance troops and Browncoats. At the decisive battle of Serenity Valley, the Browncoats were forced to surrender after losing the majority of their men and resources. The military might of the Alliance won out in the end. It is now six years later and the events that passed on the Valley are now over, though the scars will never fade the scars will never face...
The Symphony
The symphony is a firefly-class ship, it got it's name from when the ship goes into hard burn the engine and the ship vibrate and seems to 'sing'. This can be fairly disconcerting depending upon various differing elements such as pressure and lightwaves and oddly, whether the ship is being chased or not.

Sol keeps his past hidden from his close friends and crew, he was in the battle of serenity valley one of the few survivors of that great battle. He was quite resourceful for a 14 year old even managing to get his own shuttle where he began as a lowtime courier before moving up to the big kahunas.
